Frequently Asked Questions

GConvention FAQ’s

What if I have never been to a convention before?

Welcome to the Nerd Herd! Don’t Panic!

We will teach you to play the games we love! All you have to do is ask! We have all been new to the world of gaming, we want you to love it as much as we do!

What can I expect?

Expect to see a safe environment full of happy people, excited to be where they are!

Expect to see hundreds, yes hundreds of games available for you to play from board games you know and love to fantastical games of adventure you may have never even heard of. We are happy teach new players the games we love. You can expect people to help you play if you ask for help, offer to help if you seem unsure and invite you to play in our main hall as well.

Tables will have table tents on them that can be flipped over to make a request for either more players or that a teacher is wanted so you can show a signal for help if needed!

Depending on the game, you can expect to spend as little as thirty minutes or four hours or more in a game. RPG games are typically run in 4 hour slots.

Games officially start as early as 9am and run to 11pm.

Where should I stay for the convention?

Staying at the convention home hotel is the best way to support the convention. Some folks like to carry on late into the night for post gaming parties. Definitely get a room if that is you! If you stay with us, parking is covered as well as ease of getting to your games with all your stuff on time! Less travel, more gaming!

FOOD?

The convention has a food and beverage contract with the hotel. There will be bar carts as well as a “grab and go” food station for attendees so they can get a bite and get to gaming. Outside food and beverages are discouraged, as they do not support the convention.
